Featured is a wonderful Safety Razor, Valet Autostrop Razor with gold wash.

  • The  Auto-Strop Razor was introduced in 1906 and today they are still capable of excellent shaves.
  • In the early 1900’s, many people found it wasteful to discard a blade after a few shaves so the Auto-Stop Razor was indtrduced.
  • Henry J. Gaisman was a major player in the safety razor industry.
  • When Gillette introduced the “NEW” in 1930 its main purpose was to promote Gillette’s new slotted blade.
  • Henry J. Gaisman inconveniently held a patent on this blade design that preceded Gillette’s by a few months.
  • Rather than face a lengthy and expensive court battle, it was agreed that Gillette would buy Auto-Strop and Henry J. Gaisman would be installed as the President of Gillette.
  • Since the Auto-Strop was “his” razor, Gaisman kept it in production well into the 1940’s. Late model Auto-strops even carry a Gillette marking.
