Featured are wonderful EAPG Castor Bottles.

  • EAPG stands for Early American Pattern Glass which dates from 1850 until 1914.
  • EAPG is clear or colored pressed glass made in tableware or glassware matched sets.
  • Every Victorian table had a castor set in the middle to hold salt and pepper shakers, oil and vinegar cruets and usually a container for mustard.
  • Sometimes a bottle was filled with ‘castor’ sugar. This was made by pounding a sugar loaf with a mortar and pestle.
  • Color: This EAPG Castor Bottles is crystal glass.
  • Design: 1 row of dimples around the bottom and the middle, 2 rows of dimples around the neck and 2 rows of fern etching
  • Metal castor sets turned like a lazy Susan and had circular holes for the bottle to sit in.  This was convenient for everyone sitting at the table to access the condiments.
